What If...?

Way back in the 1960s, someone came up with a great question: "What if they gave a war and no one came...?"  it was, and still is, the only way to stop wars from happening.  so far, there have always been people willing to show up for a war, so we keep having them.  but i'm still optimistic that, one of these days, enough people will have had enough of this game; that the bugles will sound, and the soldiers will be ordered off to war ... and, for the first time in history, they will just say NO.  "We're not going this time, we've had enough.  We're going to stay home and live our lives in peace."

And what if we would all start saying no to certain other aspects of what has become business-as-usual...?
  • What if Tiger Woods announced a "press conference" — and no one showed up to listen to him...?
  • What if President O'Drama gave a press conference, or a new speech, or signed a new Executive Order — and no one paid any attention...?
  • What if Congress created a new law — and The People ignored it...?
Imagine all The People
     living life in peace;
          living their own lives and
ignoring the celebrities and the politicians....

Wouldn't that be refreshing?

Let it Snow, Let it Snow.....

On TV they were showing video of a lone CNN reporter in the great snow that is falling in Washington DC.  it was beautiful — just whiteness everywhere, in all directions!  the only way the reporter could get anywhere was on skis...!  and there was no one else in sight!!  it was such a peaceful scene....

Everything is shut down there, including the Gub'ment.  they said, "it's costing us a hundred million dollars per day in lost productivity, every day the government is shut down!"  and i was thinking: "lost productivity????  what does the government ever produce????  Hot Air?  Confusion?  Anger?  Chaos?"  i know, i'm probably exaggerating a bit ... but a very little bit, i think....

So, what they were actually saying was just that the government employees are paid whether they show up for duty or not, and that the payroll is $100,000,000 per day.  so, when it snows and they can't get to their offices, We The People are being cheated out of a hundred million dollars a day....

Surrender to What Is / Part 2

(( please read Part 1 first ))

PEACE — that's what this is all about.  only by accepting what IS do we ever find peace.  in Part 1 of this article, we found a way to accept other individuals as they truly are, without trying to change them and without allowing them to harm us.  in fact, the first part of the process is to accept ourselves completely.  we make peace with ourselves, by accepting every aspect of us, whether we like it or not : ^ ).  we surrender to what IS, we stop fighting ourselves.

Can we successfully apply this on a larger playing field?  what if we stopped our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?  what if we stopped our War on Terror?

If we don't stop the War on Terror — how far are we willing to spread it?  we're now openly fighting it in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq.  and now Yemen is the newest hotspot for Al Qaeda.  do we invade Yemen next?  do we continue spreading the war to wherever Al Qaeda has a measurable presence?  surely Al Qaeda would love that — but we don't have the resources to do it (thank heaven!).*  so, do we just continue the bloodshed and terror in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq?  maybe, in 2 or 3 years, we will indeed be able to achieve our stated goal in Afghanistan and Iraq — the turning-over of the war to the locals, and the homecoming of our troops.  and maybe the Al Qaeda threat in Pakistan will be low enough by then that we can turn off the drone attacks there.

* We don't have the resources to do it in a big way, at least — though it's likely we are running black ops in Yemen and other places right now.

How nice it would be to retire from these various war games, to bring our troops home, and to reserve our military power only for defending against attacks on the United States of America!  isn't that what our Constitution describes as the role of the military, in fact?  the USA was not created to be the New Roman Empire — but that is what we have become, using our military might to shape other countries in our own image.  and, not surprisingly, our military presence in other countries gives birth to and sustains movements such as Al Qaeda.

Is There a Suicide Bomber in the White House?

This is not about the 3 people who walked into the recent White House State Dinner uninvited.  oh, there's no possibility that any of them could have been a suicide bomber, we're told -- because they all passed through metal detectors.  (never mind that an airline passenger recently cleared airport metal detectors with shotgun shells in his carry-on bag; and, more importantly, never mind that 3 trained assassins could have killed -- with their bare hands, in a matter of seconds -- the President, Vice President, and the Indian high-muckety-muck who was being honored at the dinner.  no need for explosives or other fancy weapons!)

No, this is not about any of them.  the person in the White House who is acting like a suicide bomber is the President himself.

What are the characteristics of suicide bombers as we know them?  they are overwhelmingly self-righteous, absolutely convinced that they are doing the right thing, and unfazed by other points of view.  only they (the suicide bombers) know what is best -- not just for themselves, but for everyone -- and they are maniacally determined to achieve their goals, even if the whole world is against them.  so much the better, in fact; the more opposition they overcome, the more glory for them!  and, of course, the one biggest thing that defines them: they are willing even to commit suicide for the sake of their ideology.

This definition, it seems to me, is proving more and more descriptive of the President as time goes by.  in his case, let's hope it's "only" a political suicide ... but, in every other way, the definition seems to fit him like a fine, custom-made shirt.

Are there no soothsayers?

In the days of the ancient Roman Empire, it was customary for the Emperor or someone close to him to assess the likely outcome of potential actions by consulting a soothsayer.  now that America is the New Roman Empire -- always conducting a variety of wars (declared, undeclared, semi-declared, or black ops) in far-flung places -- it seems that the new Emperor would have a soothsayer on his staff.  but apparently he doesn't -- which is one more confirmation of my suicide-bomber thesis....

A suicide bomber has no need of a soothsayer.  the bomber's course is set and locked; he will do everything possible to carry out his mission, no matter what gets in his way.  and, naturally, what happens after that is of no concern to him.

Surrender to What Is / Part 1

i'm a minimalist. i like to travel light. the less baggage, the better. even with so many predictions of impending Apocalypse, i can't bring myself to stockpile provisions for the future. in fact, it seems that i spend most of my time getting rid of things! so much physical stuff is always accumulating around me, loading me down, and i have to get rid of it or it actually crushes me! even emails: if i have more than 50 in my inbox, i feel the crushing weight of them....

but there's one kind of baggage that i have a hard time getting rid of: certain emotional stuff. when someone i love lies to me or does something to hurt me -- especially repeatedly -- i carry that with me for a very long time. even though i know that doing so will continue to hurt me! believe me, i've proved absolutely how dangerous this is, not just emotionally but physically -- going so far as to bring myself to the very border of life and death. and yet, even with this knowledge and personal experience, i find it almost impossible to let go of such emotional wounds! this behavior must be in my DNA -- in fact, my father actually died of it.

the good news is, we're learning that we can consciously change even our DNA. and our DNA is changing anyway, even with no effort from us. we are all being subjected to a great, universal, purification process nowadays. and the bottom line is: purify or die.

so i've been struggling for years to let go of a couple grudges -- and just this morning a brilliant revelation came to me! when someone hurts us, the details of the event really have no meaning. therefore it's meaningless to replay them in our mind, trying to make sense of them, asking "Why?" we do this because we assume that the other person is just like us. they must be, because we love them -- right? so, how could they ever do such cruel things to us?

(Don't) Shoot the Moon! : ^ (

have you noticed
that, every single day, Life is becoming more and more a theatre of the absurd ?

i turned on the computer this morning to find the following email from a friend, Tom Swope, in Ohio:
I like Obama, but it seems like they have lowered the requirements for the Nobel Peace Prize. I am hoping for world peace, too. Where's my prize?

i wrote back the following:
Dear Mr. Swope:

Your Prize is in the mail. Yes, it's true -- you and 473,894 others, chosen at random, are receiving the Prize this year! We are happy to announce that this has been made possible by a merger of the Nobel Prize Committee and Publishers Clearing House (plus, we got a super discount price on the Certificates, printed in China).

Would you like to order some magazine subscriptions through us? Please do consider it!

Don't feel bad about being surprised by this news; even President Obama was surprised, you know! (He was also surprised, you may remember, to learn that his friends in ACORN had for years been receiving "a whole lot of Federal money.") We live in surprising times, Mr. Swope!!

Congratulations from the Nobel Prize Committee and Publishers Clearing House!

Sincerely,

Yatta-Yatta-Yatta
in case you missed it -- yes, the Nobel Prize Committee announced, in the middle of the night (in U.S. time zones), that it had given the Prize to Prez Obama. (gee, maybe they figured that things have been going so badly for him lately, they just wanted to do something to cheer him up!) word of this came shortly before the NASA "shoot the moon" experiment (which also happened in the middle of the night, here in the U.S.). maybe some of that crazy moon energy rendered the Nobel Committee temporarily insane...?

Grandmother Moon, please forgive us!funny thing, how news of the "shoot the moon" experiment was conspicuously lacking until just hours before the event! that was the first i heard of it, at least -- and i've been tuned-in to the major news channels every day. maybe NASA had a wee premonition that crashing 2 spacecraft into the moon would irritate a lot of people (not to mention the moon herself!) ... so they chose to give us minimal warning of it....

Hopi Prophecy

great thanks to my friend Angela for making me aware of the following videos. the talk was given in 1985, apparently by a man named Lee Brown -- and the videos were just recently discovered (and posted on youtube by someone who goes by the name of Lybertha).

in case you prefer a written version, here is a transcript of the talk.

viewed in sequence, these comprise the most comprehensive and coherent telling of Hopi Prophecy that i've seen....

Meanwhile, Back in Bucureşti....

as i was saying, "the time was almost 6:00 a.m." i had just arrived at the train station in the giant, old city of Bucharest, Romania. and the air was COLD! i couldn't help thinking about the wild fluctuations in temperature that i'd been experiencing: baked alive on the all-night train from Serbia ... and now, fully dressed again in my multiple layers, feeling like a human ice statue.

i wheeled my luggage through the interior of McDonald's once, just to be sure that Mihai wasn't waiting for me there. back outside, i positioned myself at the corner of the property and waited for him to appear. i had been approached already, when coming from the train, by 2 taxi drivers. i had assured them that i was being met by a friend. now, a third one homed in and spoke to me. i told him the same thing. he went away, but was back in almost no time, asking where was my friend?

not here yet, i said. and the taxi man said, well, if you know his address, i can take you to him. and i said, oh, no, i'm sure he'll be here soon.

i kept watching the big clock, and moving my feet -- trying to get warm! almost 6:00 became 10 after 6:00, and then 20 after 6:00, and then 6:30. still no sign of Mihai.... a couple more visits from the friendly
taximetrist, in his white, arctic parka: friend still not here, eh? is he a young guy
? i said he was. oh, said the taxi man -- well, then, if he's not here by now, it's for sure he's not coming. that's how these young people are now....
